He had a distinguished 20 year military career, serving in the Strategic Air Command Underground Command Post and also on the Strategic Air Command Airborne Command Post. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he worked at Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha, NE. He was known for his wry sense of humor and his unique outlook on life. He could often be found "pontificating" at the Coffee Shop in Glenwood. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Gladys P. Roll who died on March 2, 1994. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Connie and Walt Sherry, Gretna, NE; son and daughter-in-law, R. C. and Carolyn Roll, Bentonville, AR. He and Gladys were blessed with seven grandchildren: Bob, Ron, Nadja, J. D., Sheila, Jennifer and Danielle and also 13 great-grandchildren, Mckenna, Skyler, Isabella, Noah, Gillian, Ben, Nate, Ryan, Grant, Angela, Savannah, Jada and Luke. Wayne Roe Birth: Jun. 7, 1922 Hamilton County Texas, USA Death: Nov. 28, 1998 Odessa Ector County Texas, USA Wayne was the oldest of six children born to Cecil E. and Louann (Simmons) Roe. James Roan Birth: Apr. 30, 1917 Death: Feb. 4, 2004 Funeral services for Mr. James Mitchell Roan, 86, of Roan Road were held Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home with Dr. Edwin L. Cliburn officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery. Mr. Roan died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004 at his residence. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He was a resident of the Lubbock area for most of his life, and was a member of the Slaton VFW Post. He was a member of Hillcrest Country Club and Trinity Church.
